And we would stand in lines to get water.

There was no running water.

And that's how we used it.

But I still had a very positive life.

And I grew up in a culture

where people valued learning.

And there was  a sense of community aroud it.

So I felt like I had everything I needed.

Coming here to the United States

to go to stanford-- first time you were on a plane.

and you talk about the pretty significant culture shock

you know,I'd grown up playing cricket,which it kind of similar to baseball.Both have a ball

 

And so, for me,

I always internalized  [ɪn'tɜːnəlaɪz] 使藏在心底the sacrifice she made  ['sækrɪfaɪs] 牺牲
